Investor Presentation Workshop

Winning on Stage is Idea Theater

/ɪnˈves·tər/ noun. Anyone whom you are asking to support your idea.

Whether it be through the investment of dollars, time, or support, new endeavors require engagement from others. Even experienced presenters benefit from a disciplined sounding board, and someone with enough money in their savings account to move forward may need or want approval from spouses, family members, or friends.  But impassioned entrepreneurs often don't understand the language from the view of the of their audience. Moreover, many critical presentations are formally or informally timed. There is hours of critical and influential information and only minutes to make an impact.

In the flow of Neworks offerings, IPW fits best after a Thickery, which is all about content--not style.  That prior objective investigation gathers what should be presented, and decided that the idea should move forward. The IPW perfects how that content is best presented so that it will move forward.

What's different? IPW attacks presentations from the perspective of a theater production.

Output: A crisp, timed presentation with slides, talk-track, props, and sincere, flowing delivery.
Attendees have some pre-work to prepare their "as-is" content, calibrate their current idea status, and define their ending "ask". After high-density lectures on the primary components of an effective investor presentation, attendees present their material related to those components. Prearranged Reactors, with check-lists and detailed feedback matrices provide input and guide improvements before continuing onto subsequent components. Participants then review and improve their own presentations before returning for the closing day.

Who Hosts an IPW? Startup business incubators. Community and economic development organizations charged with bolstering angel and venture investments into their regions. University programs featuring business plan competitions. Companies with an established new ideas process that seek more uniform and qualified early-stage decision reviews.

Target attendee: Startup founders, early-stage entrepreneurs, Intrapreneurs readying for a Stage-Zero Management Presentation. Anyone who is convinced their idea should be pursued and they need "investors" to be able to pursue it.

Contact time:  1 and 1/2 days spread across 1-2 weeks with "homework" in-between.
