Pre-Seed Workshop

An efficient methodology to investigate the commercial potential of new ideas that might be the foundation of a new company.

The pre-seed workshop is an efficient way to move high-tech ideas from the concept to the pre-seed stage (and vet ideas that probably shouldn't go forward).
Who HOSTS a PSW?  Universities. Technology Transfer Offices. Incubators Government research laboratories. Granting agencies... Organizations charged with bolstering the pre-seed stage of deep-science-based ideas in their region. Organizations needing to build up enthusiasm and commercialization acumen, and feed applicants into their established business plan competitions and start-up company programs. (See Thickery, for why this workshop is different from those).

Target attendees:
Deep-Science folks (Grad students, Post-Docs, Research Faculty who are...
--Seriously considering moving their "technology" into a startup company
--Willing to objectively investigate whether a start-up company would be a good idea
--Wanting to learn what "commercialization" is all about.
Entrepreneurs willing to take an objective look at their "great idea".
P
rolific inventors committed to moving beyond "invention".

  • Assemble the proper resources around each team.

  • Scalable: Can be held with one group around one technology, or several groups around several technologies working in parallel at the same event.
